Money = power = sex
I’ve been watching the first season of Sex and the City and, despite season one being more than ten years old, the money-power-sex issue is still one that goes unresolved.
In an episode titled the Power of Female Sex, the girls have the following conversations:
Samantha: Women have the right to use every means at their disposal to achieve power. Miranda: Short of sleeping their way to the top. Samantha: Not if that’s what it takes to compete. Charlotte: But that’s exploitation! Samantha: Of men, – which is perfectly legal. Carrie: So, you advocate a double standard. Women can use their sexuality to get ahead whenever possible, but men should not be allowed to take advantage of it? Samantha: No, I’m just saying that men and women are equal-opportunity exploiters.
Samantha: What are you getting so uptight about? I mean, money is power. Sex is power. Therefore, getting money for sex is simply an exchange of power.
Men have the money, women give sex in exchange for money, who has the power?

Men driving force comes from there desire for sex. They work to get money to aquire things that they think will attract women and lead to sex.
Men need women to get sex and if a woman knows this and is able to seperate herself from the situation and not get entangled in a relationship then she can use her ability to give sex to get power, when you have something that someone else wants you can use that situation to your advantage to get what you want in return for what you have.
I just think attaching the words men and women to the equation makes it seem unbalanced, people will automatically see the situation as one where the woman is being exploited because there has been so much focus on gender inequality and what have you- in a situation where sex is involved people always automatically assume the women is being taken advantage of and is a victim in the situation, it may not cross one’s mind that a woman is as shrewd as a man in using what she has to get what she wants.
So rather than say men have the money. women give sex in exchange for money which immediately puts women in a disadvantaged position, its men give money in exchange for sex, women give sex in exchage for money.

kuda you have raised some really good points, like “it may not cross one’s mind that a woman is as shrewd as a man in using what she has to get what she wants.”
if we looked at it in a simplistic or basic form, its mans need to procreate, and for man to procreate in this day and age, he needs money and power. a few years ago it was easier, i would walk into my cave, grab a club, and make a plan
