Community Based Supervisor: Action Contre la Faim
Deadline: close of business 17 May 2013

Contract: Currently up to Dec 2013 for further possible renewal

ACF is a registered charity, founded in 1979. Action Contre la Faim operates in 41 countries. The international network of Action Contre la Faim is represented in Paris, London, Madrid, New York and Montreal. Teams in the field combat hunger on four fronts: nutrition, food security, health, water and sanitation.

ACF is seeking to fill vacancies of Community Based Supervisor. The Community Based Supervisor will be based in Masvingo.

Main duties
-Organises and implements capacity building of stakeholders
-Organisation &  the Implementation of Knowledge Attitudes & Practices Surveys
-Implementation of the Community Health Club Concept – in collaboration with the technical partner
-Implementation of the Community Based Management Activities
-Organizes the distribution of tool kits and spare part donations
-Responsible for all the CBM activities and reports
-Report to the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program Manager (his supervisor) – of program progress.

Level of studies and experience
-Degree/Diploma in Public/Environmental Health or related field
-Minimum of two years professional experience in Community Based Management (CBM) and -Participatory Health and Hygiene Promotion (PHHP) in Government/NGO Sector.

Required skills
-Competence in training
-Organising and implementation of participative approaches in collaboration with the technical partner
-Excellent Facilitation Skills
-Good knowledge of the intervention areas
-Dynamism & Flexibility
-Strong Computer skills (knowledge of some data analysis packages will be an added advantage)
-High Communication skills and a team player
-Ability to interact and work with Government Departments at District Level

Income Generating Activities (IGA) Supervisor: Action Contre la Faim

In Zimbabwe, ACF is seeking for one Incoming Generating Activities Supervisor for WASH Programme being implemented in the districts of Gutu and Mberengwa.

Main Objectives
-Definition of activities for the 154 Income Generating Activities in collaboration with the Programme Manager/Deputy Programme Manager and Field Coordinator
-Team supervision
-Supervision of the implementation of the Income Generating Activities
-Monitoring and evaluation with coordination with M&E team
-Coordination with the Programme Technical Partner, WASH, M&E, Admin and Log Teams
-Reporting

Level of studies and experience
Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering/Agriculture/Economics/Marketing/Business Studies, Minimum of two years professional experience in Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) in NGO environment with experience in Income generating Activities & Community Based Management Approach & focus on Micro Economy

Wash Emergency Program Manager: Action Contre la Faim
Deadline: close of business 17 May 2013

Contract: 4 months

Teams in the field combat hunger on four fronts: nutrition, food security, health, water and sanitation.

ACF is seeking to fill the vacancy of Wash Emergency Program Manager based Masvingo. The WASH E PM is expected to have an understanding and knowledge of the WASH sector within the Zimbabwean context; experience in management of WASH works, bidding and contracting process; and exceptional ability to influence in an advisory capacity to ensure good quality implementation for beneficiaries and donors, organizational learning and contribute to broader policy analysis. Additionally the candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.

The Main objectives of the position will be
- Program Management, Program Monitoring & Technical Backstopping
- Team Capacity Building and Human Resource Management
- Internal and external (with Authorities/NGOs/partners/EHA) coordination
- Program Design & Development
- Planning, reporting and context analysis
- Ensure quality standards of works are met consistently
- Ensure in collaboration with the logistics department that items are procured in time, at optimal cost and to the required quality standard.

Education and Experience
- A University degree in Water Technology, Hydrology or Civil Engineering or other – WASH related topic (Engineering, Public Health, Water Resource Management etc.)
- A Masters Degree an added advantage
- Previous Project management experience with ACF WASH
- Previous experience in an international humanitarian organisation
- Emergency WASH experience essential, in Cholera a plus
- Urban WASH experience a strong plus

Required skills
- High capacity programme manager (proven management experience) able to manage multiple programs simultaneously
- Emergency WASH experience, particularly in Cholera a strong plus, or at least strong understanding of key aspects of emergency WASH response
- Engineering background – Urban WASH engineering experience a strong plus; or at least good technical understanding peri-urban-urban WASH technologies/systems – motor pumps, sewerage systems, pipeline networks, water treatment
- Good reporting and English language skills
- Able to work under stressful conditions, responsive, quick to react in emergencies, flexible regarding travel and stay in the field (Ability to live alone for weeks at a time)
- Good control of personal stress, and good diplomacy skills
- Able to maintain good relations with local authorities and national staff
- Commitment to training and developing capacity of staff
- Good organizational skills
- Previous Project management experience with ACF WASH a strong plus

Project Director – Zimbabwe: Freedom House

Freedom House promotes the spread of freedom and democracy around the world through research, effective advocacy, and programs that support frontline activists. With 13 field offices and two U.S. offices, we support the right of every individual to be free.

Position Summary
The Project Director will lead Freedom House programs to advance democracy and human rights in countries in South Africa. She/he will be responsible for program management including strategic design and implementation, financial management, staff supervision, office management, communications, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. Furthermore, the Project Director will be responsible for building and maintaining partnerships with civil society and human rights organizations in the region. This position is based in Harare, Zimbabwe or Johannesburg, South Africa and reports to the Director for Africa programs based in Washington, DC.

Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, law, or related field
-Master’s degree strongly preferred
-Minimum 8-10 years of experience with democracy and human rights programs
-Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
-Strong knowledge of human rights principles and mechanisms, and understanding of democracy promotion
-Experience with managing and implementing multi-component, donor-funded programs
-Experience providing technical assistance to local organizations in Africa
-Experience in challenging environments and flexibility to apply lessons learned from other contexts
-Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations, and other donor approaches to civil society development
-Demonstrated ability to mobilize communities and encourage the inclusion of marginalized groups
-Strong ability to apply interpersonal skills, and successfully work in a diverse and multicultural environment and with stakeholders in the region
-Strong track record in project and staff management Ability to build and strengthen civil society organizations
-Ability to consistently apply good judgment in problem solving and decision making
-Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times

Some Duties and Responsibilities
-Develop and implement programs to support civil society and human rights in challenging environments
-Monitor and evaluate processes, and write program reports to ensure completion of program objectives
-Assume responsibility for the daily operations of the office, which includes but is not limited to: financial management, management of sub-grants, general office administration, monitoring of reports and program evaluation of all programs for which the office is responsible
-Network and liaise with consultants, members of governments, civil society organizations, international and regional bodies, and private funders
-Travel as needed in country and abroad to represent Freedom House before counterparts and the donor community
-Other related duties as assigned

Consultant: Livestock Project Baseline / ActionAid

Purpose of the Position
To carryout baseline for proposed livestock development project in Mbire district

Key Strategic Performance Areas
-Quantitative and qualitative benchmarks for the    indicators outlined in the log frame.
-Provide business plans for sale pens, abattoir and the tannery.
-Review current practices that contribute to livestock production and marketing looking at the policy/legal framework governing this sector.

A detailed Terms of Reference will be made available to shortlisted candidates.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications
Minimum MSC in the following areas Social science , Agriculture, Veterinary science, with experience in livestock and social science research.

Other Essential Requirements
-Substantial experience in livestock issues, policy analysis and development programming in Southern Africa. .
-Experience working in rural areas in areas of livelihoods.
-Proven experience in livestock business, development, policy analysis and value addition initiatives.
-Experience in conducting reviews employing participatory methodologies
-At least 5 years relevant experience in livestock development issues
-Research companies and organizations that might be interested should have the required personnel with requisite skills.
